Carondelet House Wedding - Chris + Jared

Jared majored in Photojournalism in college (hallelujah!), and Chris reached out to me saying, "we are looking for a photography that isn't your typical wedding expert. We want more documentary and less posed/staged group shots. We are truly looking for in the moment photography...candid, unscripted, and a bit unruly. Our wedding guest list is a cast of characters and you'd have a great time shooting them!" Boy, he was right! Brett and I loved hanging out with their groomsmaids, documented their wedding story, and partied until the end.

Though, Jared is not a photojournalist but a successful entrepreneur, and Chris is a prominent publicist. The couple lives in Bay area and it was (personally) so fun and an honor planning their wedding together because they initially did not have a wedding date set. They had known that they wanted to get married Carondelet House  in Los Angeles, so their date was finalized on the venue's availability and mine. (I know!) I often get asked what part of the wedding day is my favorite and (you guessed it right) I can't pick one. I can say though, that they're usually moments when I witness different types of love from friends and family.... which you'll get to see about Chris and Jared as images below. :D

Los Angeles River and Gardens Center - Cheryl + Scott Wedding Pictures

HAPPY.

PARTY.

Literally, I want to stop writing right here so you can start looking at Cheryl & Scott's wedding pictures already, and those two words sum up that night!

The funniest (?) part about Cheryl and Scott's wedding was that it was one of the most laid-back weddings I've ever photographed. Wedding photojournalism can be a new concept to a lot of people, but not to everyone at Cheryl and Scott's wedding. At one point, I even questioned myself, "Am I that invisible?" And I love working with Brett; how we complement each other's style and storytelling elements is simply satisfactory!

LA River Gardens Wedding Photojournalism

Ohhh gosh... Past Action Heroes were there to party UP - one of the reasons the couple had looked forward to their wedding, and now I'm going to let pictures tell you the rest; please enjoy my personal favorite images from their Los Angeles River Center And Gardens wedding last October. (Oops.. yes... I'm a little behind :P) Check out my wedding photojournalism collections and pricing today!

Old Ranch Country Club Weddings in Seal Beach - Veronica & Will

Veronica was on top of everything. She contacted me more than a year before the wedding date and had everything organized - I was sooo impressed! - and some may think an organized person (like me!) doesn't know how to relax and be spontaneous, but heyyyyy that's not true at all - Veronica's got the whole package; the hip-hop and beer lovers were barefooted at the reception, knew precisely how to be present/enjoy throughout the day and did not stop dancing all night. Their wedding was packed with a diverse cultural background of guests with a hint of Mexican culture - *mariachi band - given that Veronica is half Mexican and half Trinidadian while Will is half Mexican and half Russian.

My Photojournalist Wedding Experience

The best wedding to document for me is always the one where I get treated like one of their guests. NOT because I want to feel special or anything. Still, it's because 1) somehow I'm not a fan of the word "vendor" or "photographer" - although I'm all those things - I want people to call my name, 2) I get the trust and access to capture the wedding story like no one else could; isn't that my sole responsibility why I'm there with everyone all day and night? And the kindhearted groom, Will, ensured I had just that. I had so much fun photographing all the love and let-it-loose fun that everyone had at their autumn wedding held at Old Ranch Country Club, and brilliant photographer Brett Butterstein joined me to witness this celebration.
