Ashley and Aaron's story began on a film set, where they met through a mutual friend. What started as a friendship grew into a creative partnership. After working together on a short film during one of the busiest seasons of their lives, they realized they were meant to be more than collaborators. ❤️

They share so many of the same interests and have built a relationship where they can be completely themselves. Their kindness, support, and genuine friendship shine through in every interaction, making it easy to see why they fit together so naturally.

Their wedding at The 1909 reflected everything they love. It was thoughtful, personal, and full of meaningful moments. One of my favorite details was Aaron's collection of expired films. He shared it with us before the wedding, and we used it to capture part of their day. Those beautifully imperfect images became part of their wedding story and made the memories even more special.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I love when couples bring pieces of themselves into their wedding day. Personal details like these make every celebration unique and help tell a story that could only belong to them. The best wedding photographs are the ones that preserve genuine moments and real memories, and Ashley and Aaron's day was full of both.

“We love spending our date nights trying new bars, so we figured this would be so us.” 🥰

The moment Myrissa and Chad said that, I knew exactly how their engagement session should feel. Instead of planning a traditional photo shoot, we turned it into one of their favorite date nights. We started with cocktails at a cozy bar 🍸 and ended the evening watching the sunset along the beach in Northern San Diego. 🌅

From the very beginning, everything felt easy and natural. Myrissa might out-emoji me, which honestly says a lot. 😂❤️ Chad reaches for her without even thinking, and those little moments say so much about their relationship. They laugh easily, they have fun together, and they make every moment feel effortless.

As the evening unfolded, they clinked glasses, wandered along the shoreline, and soaked in the golden light. Their engagement session felt playful, flirty, nostalgic, and full of genuine connection. Those are always my favorite sessions because they reflect who a couple truly is instead of asking them to be anyone else.

I love when couples choose an engagement session that reflects who they really are. Instead of asking them to pose, I get to document them laughing, talking, and enjoying time together. Those are the moments that tell the story of their relationship and become the photos they treasure most.

One of the sweetest parts of the day was knowing they drove all the way to Northern San Diego just to spend the evening with us. They kept thanking us throughout the session, but honestly, Brett and I were the lucky ones. We left feeling like we had spent the evening with friends. 💛

Hannah and Spenser planned a quick coffee date that somehow turned into a four hour conversation. Somewhere between talking about life and laughing nonstop, that simple meet up became the beginning of their story, and now here we are at their wedding.

From the very beginning, they were so easy and fun to be around. Every conversation leading up to the wedding ended with all of us laughing. Hannah is thoughtful, driven, and loves having a plan. Spenser is calm, grounded, and brings an instant sense of ease into every moment. Together, they create a steady and supportive balance that feels incredibly natural.

They are happiest while taking road trips, spending time outdoors, or staying home with records playing while the night moves slowly. Their wedding at Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay reflected that same feeling throughout the entire day. The celebration felt joyful, emotional, and deeply personal, surrounded by the friends and family who know and love them best.

As documentary wedding photographers, these are the stories we love capturing. Real connection, genuine laughter, and moments that unfold naturally always tell the strongest story. This is what makes documentary wedding photography so meaningful because every image preserves not only how the day looked, but also how it truly felt.
