San Diego Iglesia ni Cristo Wedding and Julep Venue Wedding Reception

A small and warm ceremony for two San Diego souls who grew up here, fell in love here, and promised forever here. Gladys and Aldrin’s wedding was rooted in home, history, and a love that had been growing for years.

Their Iglesia ni Cristo wedding ceremony in San Diego was intimate and full of meaning. Surrounded by close family, they shared vows that carried so much emotion. Even after years together, their tears came so easily, and every moment felt soft, sincere, and deeply personal.

One of my favorite parts of their story is how much they love food. Their vows were inspired by their late-night snacks and their shared love for boba, which made everything feel even more personal and fun. Food is love, and you could feel that in every part of their day. 🤤

After the ceremony, on the following Monday, the celebration continued at Julep Venue in San Diego, where the energy shifted into a joyful and lively reception. There was laughter, bubbles, boba drinks, and so many moments that brought everyone together. It was the perfect balance of an intimate ceremony and a vibrant party.

As a San Diego documentary wedding photographer, these are the stories that matter most. Authentic connection, genuine emotion, and moments that unfold naturally. This is what makes documentary wedding photography in San Diego so powerful because it preserves the feeling of the day, not just how it looked.

The Wedding Bowl, Cuvier Club Wedding | Nina and Jonathan

As a wedding photojournalist, capturing Nina and Jonathan’s day meant preserving every laugh, every tear, and every beautifully unguarded moment. The kind you cannot plan. The kind you feel. Even a wild squirrel joined the celebration, running right through the ceremony like it had a front-row seat to love. Honestly, iconic. 🐿️

Their wedding ceremony at The Wedding Bowl and reception at Cuvier Club were filled with a burst of joy, colors, lots of tequila shots, and party; wrapped in orange 🧡🍊 and light blue 💙, and then, bright, calm, playful, and full of heart. Every detail felt intentional, but nothing felt forced. Just like documentary wedding photography which lets people be exactly who they are.

Their love story is just as sweet. Jonathan asked Nina to marry him during a boat ride when she caught a floating bottle drifting in the water. Inside was a note that said, “Will you marry me?” She said yes, and right after that, it started to rain. Like a movie scene. Nina’s mom believes the rain was a sign from her dad in heaven, showing his love and presence. I mean, C’mon. 😭

As a wedding photojournalist, these are the moments I live for. The laughter that sneaks up on you. The tears that come out of nowhere. The stories that hold so much meaning beneath the surface. A true reminder of why authentic and candid wedding photography matters so much.
